Digging Into The Drawing Pile

Here's a drawing I did for Tazmania, circa 1991 - just before I moved to northern California. I liked a lot of the work I did for the show, even if I was just lukewarm on the overall result.

Thanks! The show was just okay to me. But -- I worked on Tiny Toon Adventures(which I really didn't like), and that has a devoted fan base, too. I guess they're more fun to watch than make! :)

Ah, but Jeff--YOUR work never betrayed your feelings. ; )

I still well remember my moment of truth vis a vis the realities of TV production: here I'd been passionately defending the calibre of artists working on TTA to everyone back at school, and rightfully so, as I was surrounded by all of the greats: you, Jim S., Mike F., Bruce, Ted, Reccardi, etc.etc.etc...then I saw my very first 'finished' show come back(it was a movie parody one, with a "Raiders" take off, etc., I think) that I'd seen in layout & boards. Oh. My. God. Talk about a rude awakening. But the *original* work--so much of it was gorgeous. I'm very glad Bruce and his bunch got to do their own show after a while...as well as the R&S crowd. And it's amazing how many people loved that show as kiddies! Kids! What can you say? (lol)

I'm amazed at how many shows can get such good results from the overseas studios. Tiny Toons was before all that, though. At that point, the output was still pretty nasty. I'm sorry you got burned, but it is a funny story.

As far as taste goes, most kids just don't have any yet. More than half of my childhood animation collection is junk! Boring H-B stuff. 'Twas ever thus, I think.
