What Will Become Of The Sweatbox?
A great documentary is sitting in the Disney vault. Cartoon Brew is asking, will it see the light of day? Hopefully so.
But I Liked "Mars Attacks!", So What Do I Know?

We had a teacher bring it in to show and it was great! I would love to see it again too. BTW, what are your thoughts about the deal w/the studios Jeff. I'm sure it would be informative and we'd all love to hear it.
Sorry, but I'm not at liberty to discuss that stuff here. There's a lot of employee blogs out there, and the potential for misstepping (or worse) is huge. So I have to be very strict about not having any sort of work discussions.
Makes sense.
It's amazing how constant you are with your responses. Thanks so much for being so open. There are so many questions I'd like to ask you about story, but I think they're too broad. Story and storytelling itself seems pretty broad.
I'm at Calarts and trying to think of a film idea. I keep going in cirlces with my ideas. I can't seem to find something worth making. Anyhow, if you have any words of advice, it'd be cool. But perhaps I should submit my comments in the form of a question :)
Thanks again Mr. Pidgeon. Keep up the good blog :) And by the way, I really enjoy your drawings. It's amazing to hear about the people youve met, like Chuck Jones, and well...not its late and I'm talking, no TYPING too much.
TCHAU
Story is a big subject!
If you're having trouble coming up with a film idea, keep your eyes open! There's lots of fascinating character interaction going on all around you!
Any place that two people can meet, there's potential for conflict. At the store. At the bank. At the airport. In traffic. At the coffee shop.
Think about memorable things that have happened to you or your family. Chances are, they're more universal than you might think!
Good luck!
Hey, that looks like our Open Season director, Roger Allers, right there next to Sting.
Yeah, I think he was directing the film back when it was called Emperor of the Sun (or something like that). The title, genre, and director all changed in mid-production.
It was called "Kingdom of the Sun." Starring Owen Wilson!! Lived through both incarnations. Both are totally different films. I think that those two moves make up half of my time at Disney. If you include a few other films that didn't make it to the screen then I'd have about 3 years of actual "to theatres" film making time. *groans*
And Smacleod, make sure your film is short and to the point. No long storyreels that go nowhere. Short and sweet I used to say.
