Latest Auction Purchase

I just 'won' this Paul Coker Mad magazine ad that I saw as a kid. This drawing was part of a series of subscription ads called, "Why Kill Yourself?" It went for far less than I expected for a color piece!

Awesome! do you know if there is a Art of Paul Coker? or a book with good compilations of his stuff?

Aside from the Rankin-Bass book, I can't think of one off the top of my head. I'll see if I can dig anything up. Most any collection of older Mad stuff would probably have a decent amount of his work, too.

Oh my good goodness. You have a Coker ORIGINAL?!?!?! AAAAHHHHH! My jealousy knows no bounds. Nice. By the way, for Coker fans, here's a great place to start.

Congrats on the painting!

Thanks! It was pretty affordable, too - only about $400 for a full color piece! I'm assuming that's because there's no one 'famous' (i.e, Alfred E. Newman, etc.) in the drawing.

Thanks for the web info!

I had no idea that Horrifying Cliches book existed! And so cheap! I snapped one right up - thanks again!
