Hey! It's the Fat Man's place! What was the name of Greenstreet's character again?
Gotta love the Warner Bros art department, yes? I'm sure that had an influence on parts of Adventureland, as it should.
Which reminds me--have you ever seen "The Black Swan"? Now there's a film that all by itself is the compleat template/inspiration for the Pirates ride...it takes nothing away from Marc Davis et al to say so, but it's a treat to watch just for the incredible (to me, anyway) jolt you get, recognizing so much of pure pirate-stuff that got translated into WED's project. Also, Ty Power, Maureen O'Hara and George Sanders in Technicolor are something else again.
You know, it's sad... I like Casablanca, but I've never been a big geek about it... so I don't know the name of his character. What kind of film nerd am I?
I imagine that, if it didn't have an influence on Adventureland, that The African Queen did. I'm sure Casablanca must have as well, though.
I've never seen The Black Swan. Sounds great! I'll try to check it out.
Senior Ferrare!
And for a pirate film, IMHO, you can't beat Captain Blood. Port Royale, a young Errol Flynn, a story of why he became a pirate and he gets the girl and redemption at the end of the film... even if it is in black and white.
Yeah, Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk are my two favorites!
