Memory (Osamu Tezuka, 1964)

Here's a neat short film about memory and how Tezuka feels that it works. There's a lot of silliness in here, but he illustrates some thoughtful observations. Check it out!

Jeff--
Thanks for posting this--i love it! i just got into Tezuka over the past 12 months reading BUHDDA, which is both beautiful and compelling and also full of incongruous humor to keep you alert... I've also been reading his other series, but i have to say I haven't seen much of his short films...are there more like this?

btw i don't think we ever met, but i vividly recall seeing your short film THE LITTLE TRAIN.... at a CalArts show years ago and being blown away by your sense of design. hope you are well and thriving. i loved the new feature and have already seen it twice.
best--WF

I think there's more Tezuka clips on YouTube - I saw some others when I found this one, but haven't had a chance to look at them.

If you like Buddha, you might want to try Ode To Kirohito. VERY VERY dark, but I found it hard to put down. I just bought Appollo's Song at the museum, so I'll let you know how that is when I'm done.

Thanks for the compliment, but I think you're confusing me with someone else - The Little Train is not my short. I'm not sure who made that film, though it does sound familiar...

I'm glad you liked 'our' new movie (I had little to do with it myself)! I've seen it three times so far, and it gets better with each viewing!

Thanks for writing - Jeff

oh dear, how embarassing...i have to keep better notes, (it was close to 15 years ago, but it was a very snappy film!)

i have enjoyed your work in the varioius movies and books, tho, and am currently working with a friend of yours: Colin Brady, who speaks very highly of you.

Obviously im seeing a lot of Tezuka, (and loving it). Thanks for the recommendations!

Ah! You're working on Astro Boy! I'm very envious. I love robots!

Say 'hi' to Colin for me!
