Unfortunately Named Toy Dept.
Here's an ad from a far more innocent time... uh, 1975 or so. Okay, so maybe this product had a really, really naive project head.
Labels: 70s toy, advertising, ball buster, game, humor, mego, television
But I liked "Mars Attacks!", so what do I know?

Haha! hilarious!
It's amazing - right down to the wink at the end, as if to say We know what you're thinking, and you're right. The fact that the husband says it to the wife is too good to be a coincidence!
Wow! Come on... somebody was having a laugh. Things weren't THAT innocent back then.
I can't believe that sold anything with commercials back then. There are so many really, really bad ones.
How did people ask if others wanted to play? "Excuse me, but would anyone like to bust may balls?"
Great find!
Oh. My. God.
I don't have any memory of this...the commercial could be one of those '75-76 SNL commecial parodies, couldn't it? It'd fit right in.
"...and then BUST your opponent's BALLS!"(w/scene of wife beting hubby at game)!!!!!!
Unbelievable.
It seems too crazy to be true, doesn't it? I think someone at Mego lost a bet and had to make it!
Jeff: my husband absolutely insisted this was a Groove Tube-type parody, not a real toy--until I showed him the Mego page I googled that proved that, yes, it WAS real! Wow.
I must say the game itself looks pretty lame, doesn't it?
Yeah, but I'm not a big game person. I think it's a tough to make an immortal, Monopoly - level game. But I guess hitting that status in any medium is really hard!
