All This, And Maggie Gyllenhaal Too
The new trailer for The Dark Knight is up, and it looks great. Looks like Bruce has a strong new love interest, too. Can't wait, can't wait!!Labels: awesome, DC, joker, maggie gyllenhaal, sweet, the dark knight, trailer, warner brothers

Saw this trailer at I Am Legend. I cannot WAIT to see this. Heath Ledger may well be a genius. I'm not sure, but it's possible. When I saw that shot of Maggie though I got so excited. This movie has everything going for it!
I hope it turns out ok. I have never really quite understood the need to give Batman a love interest, to me it makes no sense whatsoever. When would he have the time? Too often that plot element swings the villain into kidnapping the lady and then Batman has to rescue her. Yawn.
Heath Ledger really seems to have embraced the role. I am very surprised at how well he comes off as Joker, I didn't think he had the look for it. Apparently Paul Bettany was considered for the part. If you have seen Gangster No. 1 you could see how he could definitely pull it off, he's downright creepy in that film.

I hear you, but if it's gotta happen, I want an actress in there who looks old enough to play that part. Katie Holmes is cute, but she didn't look (to me) like she was out of college yet, much less an attorney.
It actually looks like Maggie Gyllenhaal is picking up Katie Holmes' role as Rachel Dawes. I hate it when they switch actors/actresses. Why not just write in a different love intrest?
If the swap-out looks to be an improvement - and I think it is - I don't know that I care. I think it only bothers me if a high-profile role that I previously liked (like Kirstey Alley's Lt. Saavik, or Crispin Glover's George McFly) gets changed.
Looks great. Let us forever wash away the memories of Bat-nipple suits and glow-stick street gangs.

Lol! Common, tell me you're not going to crave an "Ice Ballet" while watching The Dark Knight.
I would have chosen Maggie over Katie any day. I guess I just would have liked to seen her in "Returns"
I'll tip my hat to that, Chris haha :)
I'm pretty excited for this one! They also seem to be giving Alfred a more influencial role in these movies which I think is pretty cool.
I totally agree with you on Maggie Gyllehaal, if you have to have a girl for Batman you may as well do it right.
The more I watch that trailer the more I get excited to see the movie. I find Ledger's performance here to be almost too good, this is the most disturbing Joker I've seen portrayed on film.
The Dark Knight for me is the best Batman movie ever. I couldn't get enough of the Joker's outstanding performance, just-right swashbuckling action, protruding nipples on that tight-fit costume (sans the pasties nipple covers), Wayne's sheer nonchalance, etc. Everything's amalgamated in perfect harmony.
