"Stepford Wives" Teaser Trailer

I know this film is old news, but I thought I'd throw this this question out to the internets. Does anyone know the name of the music cue used here? Is it from a pop song, or some sort of music library? Even iPhone's Shazam app couldn't figure it out.

Please leave a message here if you can ID this tune!

I enjoy a good musical challenge, but this one is really frustrating me. Sounds like Nelson Riddle, but can't uncover any solid info...

It does sound like one of those classic Capitol arrangers, huh? Like a lead-in to a Nat King Cole song or something.

Teasers do get custom scores sometimes (like the trailers for Hoffa and Hook), so maybe that's the case here.

I spent nearly an hour last night trying to solve this mystery. I even previewed about a half of the big band/swing songs up on iTunes to see if there were any leads, but it all amounted to dead ends & wrong clues. Sorry, Jeff.

I noticed the beginning sounded a bit like "Beyond the Sea" crossed with some 40's waltz music, but that's all I came up with. Chances are it could be a custom score, since NOBODY seems to have the right answer in their databases, even that one big Movie Trailer Music site or any movie music forums I searched through. Sorry that I couldn't help, man.

It sounds like a custom arrangement using some recognizable notes of the 1961 Leslie Briccuse song "My Kind of Girl", albeit with an intro cribbed from the opening of Nelson Riddle's arrangement of "Stars Fell on Alabama" that turns up in a Sinatra recording.

Thanks for all the hunting, everyone!

It looks like there's a soundtrack CD available for it:

Unfortunately, there's no track listing, so there's no way of knowing if the cue is on it. $32 + shipping is an expensive experiment.

Hey Jeff! We met yesterday at Bill P's party. I just sat down and watched the Britney Spears episode of South Park - absolutely brilliant.

Jeff, don't waste your dough on the soundtrack. I pulled it off a torrent site last night and that trailer cue isn't among the 15 tracks included. One site suggested the trailer in question features "original trailer music" composed by the guys at X-Ray Dog. Not sure if that's true. Couldn't confirm or deny based on the info available at their site.

Hey, Bill! Thanks for posting. I'm glad you liked the SP Britney episode - I was worried that I'd built it up too much. Isn't it incredibly weird and dark (even for Parker & Stone)?

As a last resort you could contact Imaginary Forces and ask them...

Ah! I didn't realize that it was one of their trailers. How did you find out?

Here it is:

But I'd have to blind buy it.
Hmmm... maybe I can give it a test spin at a 'record' store...

dang...so it was Riddle all along. I'm gonna have to get this Shazam thingy.

Jeff here's a sample that confirms that it's Riddle's "Rain":

I tried using Shazam on the song a couple of times with no success. Good job, Mike!

Ted, your link got cropped off so I couldn't use it.

As it turned out, I took a chance and bought a CD that has two Riddle LPs on it - including the Rain cue, of course. I picked it up for $12 or $13, including shipping.

We'll see what the rest of the songs are like!
