I see they're planning for it to be a mix of live-action and CG. Will there be any rapping?
Hopefully not, but you never know...
I'd prefer a straight up, honest-to-goodness animated film -- traditional or CGI -- without any live-action human characters.
So, we'll have to wait and see if this move is a "Boo Boo" or not ...
now, everyone groan in unison ...

I think CG would be really tough to do with such stylized characters - I think 2D would be best.
3D is a possibility, but I think rather than try to make it 'look real', that it'd be better to find a convincing aesthetic of its own. Maybe like the old View-Master reels brought to life:

I hope their add body function jokes to modernize Yogi for today’s audience.
Nothing makes an old cartoon character more contemporary than bathroom humor--I’m still chuckling over Porky proclaiming he wet himself in Space Jam (hee hee hee)
PS: Porky doesn't wear pants, guess that makes the joke even funnier (hee hee hee)
Ash is a pretty sharp guy and has a lot of neat ideas. He's as capable as anyone of making something fun out of this.
And it would be amazing to do the Viewmaster look! Please please please!
Ash gets it.
And he will deliver.

I agree with Jenny on the old Yogi View-Master look, those old Hanna-Barbera reels were beautiful.
Ash does get it! He did a great job with "Surf's Up".
I think the biggest challenges will be A) what kind of script he gets, and B) what he can do about it if it isn't as good as it could be.
