AMC is venturing into zombie-drama territory with multi-hyphenate Frank Darabont.
Cabler is close to finalizing one of the richest development deals ever with Darabont to write and direct a series adaptation of the Image Comics graphic novel series "The Walking Dead," penned by Robert Kirkman. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion are also on board to exec produce.
Project is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live. Numerous editions of the "Walking Dead" graphic novels have been published since 2003.

No way.
A series may be good for this title but I dont think AMC will be able to do it justice.
Maybe HBO or Showtime where they could get away with more of the rather graphic events and any of the zombie related carnage.
In any case, hope they dont completely ruin my favorite comic.
So AMC is stricter in that regard? I didn't realize there was that much of an editorial spectrum on cable.
No matter what happens, the comic is still on the shelf, as Mickey Spillane would say. Or maybe it was Dashiell Hammett. I forget.
I just dont see basic cable being able to go anywhere near the places the books do.
Have you read any of them?
Theyve gone into some taboo areas and tend to kill off many (or all) main characters.
But Darabonts usually cool, so who knows :)
Yup! I've read the whole series so far. I love it, and maybe you're right - I just didn't know there was a big difference in permissiveness between AMC and, say, HBO. The comics do get really intense, so while I'm curious, I'm not getting too excited about it.
