Astro Boy Teaser Online

At last! There's more to see of Imagi's Astro Boy feature! Unfortunately, the designs look pretty watered down. I realize that Tezuka's designs are challenging for CG, but I wish that more of the original manga's graphic appeal had been retained. Oh, well... ultimately, it'll all pivot on the story anyway.

I'm probably just envious... I'd love to direct an Astro Boy movie!

New Watchmen Trailer

I'm not a big fan of 300, but this trailer looks pretty nice. As far as comic-to-film adaptations go, though, I'm a bigger believer in the spirit of the law than the letter. Here's hoping that there's more than pretty pictures to look at neat year!

Thanks to io9.com for the clip!

Baz Is Back!

After seven years, Baz Luhrmann is back with Australia, a splashy, sprawling romance that looks to be his version of Casablanca or The African Queen. As you can see, he's got his John Fords workin' (see: The Searchers).

I like Luhrmann's films, so I'll probably check it out - plus, some of the trailer music is really working for me! Check out the trailer here, and the film on November 14th!

The Incredible Hulk Trailer Now Online!

A lot of the elements - Bruce on the run from the military, the cast, someone else using the same process to become the Abomination (so the Hulk can fight him, and be more of a hero), this interpretation of the character - look pretty good! I'm not too happy with the Abomination's design, but it's a tough character to adapt to film.

Anyway, I'll be checking it out, but you can see the trailer yourself at mtv.com.

All This, And Maggie Gyllenhaal Too

The new trailer for The Dark Knight is up, and it looks great. Looks like Bruce has a strong new love interest, too. Can't wait, can't wait!!

If you want to see it in HD - go here.

The Counterfeiters Trailer

Here's a blurb about the film from the Apple website:
The true story of Salomon Sorowitsch, counterfeiter extraordinaire and bohemian. After getting arrested in a German concentration camp in 1944, he agrees to help the Nazis in an organized counterfeit operation set up to help finance the war effort. It was the biggest counterfeit money scam of all times. Over 130 million pound sterling were printed, under conditions that couldn’t have been more tragic or spectacular. During the last years of the war, as the German Reich saw that the end was near, the authorities decided to produce their own banknotes in the currencies of their major war enemies. They hoped to use the duds to flood the enemy economy and fill the empty war coffers. At the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, two barracks were separated from the rest of the camp and the outside world, and transformed into a fully equipped counterfeiters workshop. “Operation Bernhard” was born.

The trailer looks good! I want to check this out at some point.

Movie Trailers...With Commentary?

Necessary? Not at all. Nerdy fun? You bet! Check out the trailer for Psycho (one of my favorites), and afterwards, watch it again with commentary by John Landis! But don't stop there - not with tons of others to choose from!

Southland Tales Trailer Is Up

As Keanu Reeves would say, '"Whoa". It'll either be a wild ride, or rend itself apart through sheer ambition. Take a tiny peek inside Richard Kelly's head here.

Iron Man Trailer

It's up and running on the Apple site. Looks good, aside from the silly music. I love Downey's Stark, and the flying stuff looks awesome. The built-in air braking is super-cool!

"I Want Someone To Eat Cheese With" Trailer

This looks pretty funny, plus it's great to see a movie about people trying to connect who are older than college students. No offense to Superbad or anything (I did think it was funny), but it's getting harder and harder for me to relate to the teen sex comedy thing. I'm forty-two, that was a while ago, you know?

Anyhow, I definitely want to check this out!

Robot Chicken Star Wars Special

Looks pretty funny! I've never watched a full episode, but the clips that I've seen on YouTube are great. Check out some trailers and TV spots here - I think the George Lucas one and the full trailer are the best. I wonder if that's Lucas' real voice?

I still like the live-action part better, unfortunately. Judge for yourself...

The Host Trailer

This looks pretty interesting. Apparently, the formaldehyde dumping is based on a real case of U.S. military negligence in Korea. Bonus points for the archery!

New Star Trek Previews

If you're curious about the newly-revamped Star Trek (The Original Series, or TOS for short) episodes, you can see previews for four different episodes at startrek.com. The effects do stick out a little by virtue of them being slicker than the live-action footage, but it does look pretty good. It's also interesting to see these ads treat the material as if it's never aired before, with modern "In a world..." sales techniques!

The Astronaut Farmer Trailer

For whatever reason, someone's decided to make a feature film version of the Salvage 1 television series. Somehow, I don't think we'll be seeing this on a double bill with Who Killed The Electric Car? anytime soon.

PS - Here's far more that you'd ever want to know about Salvage 1.
