Toy OTD: Robert Harrop Dennis The Menace Figurine

Did you know that England has its own version of Dennis The Menace - twice as big, twice as mean, half as cute? I traveled to England in '99 to celebrate the re-release of Yellow Submarine, and was looking in the stores for something British to take back with me as a souvenir. Fortunately, it didn't take long, and it was comic-related to boot! This little guy is very nicely made - it was even on sale (I think it cost me $10 or less)!

A great, on-model sculpt and tight paint job pulls the whole thing together - it's nice that it has a matte finish, so as not to obscure the clarity of the design. The hair treatment is tricky, but I think it's handled very well!

There's tons of Dennis figurines out there, but you can get this one on eBay.co.uk right now for £9.99 + £2.50 shipping (about $24 USD).

Where Have All Our Heroes Gone?

METRO.CO.UK: 'Captain America' arrested over pants-burrito
Tuesday, April 24, 2007

A doctor in Florida is facing charges, after being accused of groping a woman while wearing a Captain America uniform with a burrito stuffed down his tights.

The incident, hardly fitting behaviour for a superhero, happened after 54-year-old Dr. Raymond Adamcik went on a bar-crawl with a number of other costume-wearing medics.

Witnesses said that Adamcik was walking around with the burrito tucked into the waistband of his costume, asking women if they wanted to touch it.

When one woman refused to touch the burrito, it is alleged that the doctor removed the snack and groped her.

The police were called, and, according to the official report, 'there were so many cartoon characters in the bar at the time, all Captain America's [sic] were asked to go outside for a possible identification.'

Adamcik was identified as the lecherous superhero in question, and taken to the police station in Melbourne, Florida – where, to increase his troubles, he was caught trying to flush a joint that he'd also stashed down his tights.

He now faces charges of battery, drug possession, trying to destroy evidence and disorderly conduct, and has been released on bail.

Local police spokeswoman Jill Frederiksen said: 'This is definitely an unusual situation. We don't usually arrest people in costume.'

Captain America was recently killed off in Marvel Comics' 'Civil War' series – shot by a sniper as, ironically, he was led into court to face numerous criminal charges, none of which involved a burrito.
