Toy OTD: Cranky Studios' Whaleboy Vinyl Figure (Signed)
The only thing about this toy that made me unhappy is that it took so long for it to come out. I feel like I've been drooling over the prototype for years (though I'm sure it wasn't really that long). But it finally emerged this past summer at Comic-Con, and it's totally worth the wait!Whaleboy is a really great figure - the character/color design are a lot of fun, the sculpt and paint work look sharp, and it comes with a few other facial expressions that you can snap into its head. It's a clever way to customize your figure (at least, to a certain degree)! You can't see it in this photo, but there's a lamprey hanging from the back of his head as a funny touch.
There's a few variants, too - a black version, a white version, and possibly a camouflaged version (though I've only seen drawings - I'm not sure it was ever produced). They all look wonderful, but I still liked the standard blue colorway the best!
You can buy that one here for $39.95 + shipping. The black/goth Whaleboy is only on the secondary market these days - there's one for sale on eBay for $114.99 + $12 shipping. The albino/white variant costs even more, fetching at least $119.99 + $12 shipping. Good luck!
